Shoni Schimmel documentary 'Off The Rez' to air on Discovery prior to 2013 NCAA Women's National Championship game

A preview of Off The Rez, which will be broadcast today at 6 p.m. EDT on Discovery Fit & Health channel.

Discovery's Fit and Health Network will broadcast "Off the Rez", the story of Louisville Cardinals star Shoni Schimmel (and, by association, current teammate and sister Jude) today at 6 p.m. EDT.

If you haven't seen the film previously, this would probably be as good a time as any: shortly after the completion of the movie, the Schimmel sisters will embark upon an epilogue of sorts when they complete their improbable 2013 NCAA Tournament run by facing the storied Connecticut Huskies in the National Championship game tonight (8:30 p.m. EDT on ESPN).

You probably couldn't write a believable screenplay like that kind of story.

While you're waiting for the film and the game, be sure to read Jessica Lantz's recent article about why the Schimmel sisters are such a source of pride for Native American fans, including Kansas Jayhawks point guard Angel Goodrich.

For more on the movie, visit Hock Films' website. And if you haven't seen director Jonathan Hock's ESPN 30 for 30 documentary "Survive and Advance" that's another timely one that's well worth your time.
