The shorthanded San Francisco Dons finally ran out of gas yesterday and fell to the Loyola Marymount Lions 75-53.
Coming off a win against Pepperdine with only seven players available, the Dons came out sluggish and fell behind quickly as LMU just attacked the middle of their zone with ease and knocked down jumpers from the perimeter. Although it was a tough way for the Dons to end their season, they have a lot to be proud of - it was a milestone season not only for the Azzi era, but also the past decade.
Today the LMU Lions move on to face the BYU Cougars at noon PST, while the Portland Pilots beat the Santa Clara Broncos yesterday to face the St. Mary's Gaels in the second quarterfinal meeting at 2:30 p.m. PST.
