Stanford takes the Pac-12 tournament title in a thriller over UCLA

Stanford takes the Pac-12 title in a surprisingly dramatic 51-49 win (boxscore) behind a career-high 20 points from sophomore point guard Amber Orrange who more than made up for Chiney Ogwumike's sub-par offensive production.

Despite the loss, UCLA's defensive effort over the past two games in the Pac-12 tournament should not go overlooked: holding Cal to a season-low 29.5% scoring and Ogwumike without a point in the second half is no small feat.

So in light of some of the other recent losses around the nation, where should UCLA be seeded in the 2013 NCAA tournament?

2013 Pac-12 tournament: Stanford survives Colorado to advance to title game

All season the Stanford Cardinal have been looking for ways to become "less Chiney-centric" and yesterday against the Colorado Buffaloes they found someone else to step up.

With Colorado's defense forcing star Chiney Ogwumike held to 9-for-24 shooting from the field, Amber Orrange was that player yesterday, as described by C&R.

Thank goodness for guard Amber Orrange. She might not get a lot of assists per game, but her specialty is driving in and hitting pull up jumpers. And that she did. She would score 13 points for the game, and kept Stanford in it when Colorado would go up by a bucket or two. Then, you can only keep an Ogwumike down for so long, especially after she loses a contact.

With the win, Stanford faces the UCLA Bruins in the Pac-12 title game.

Head over to C&R's fan post to read more about the game. For more on the Pac-12 tournament, check out our storystream.

Washington completes largest comeback in school history to beat Oregon in Pac-12 tournament

For the second time on the first day of the 2013 Pac-12 women's basketball tournament, a team came into KeyArena on fire to put an opponent in a deep hole.

While Utah was able to hold on despite going cold in the second half, Oregon wasn't so lucky.

A win had to be expected for the Washington Huskies against the Oregon Ducks tonight at KeyArena, but they certainly made it as interesting as possible.

Golden Blogs: Should Cal be considered a lock for the 2013 Pac-12 tournament finals?

In his preview of the Pac-12 conference tournament, norcalnick of California Golden Blogs took a look at what's at stake for the California Golden Bears in the 2013 Pac-12 Tournament.

Obviously, the tournament offers the opportunity to win the tournament outright after sharing the regular season title with rival Stanford. But norcalnick isn't taking a conference finals appearance for granted.

Should Cal fans take a tournament final appearance as a given? No, probably not. On the downside, Cal's likely tournament path will be an L.A. double header, with probable opponents USC and UCLA looking to ruin things. USC is easily the toughest matchup for Cal amongst lower seeded teams. And while Colorado played the Bears tougher than UCLA, the Bruins are too talented to discount.

USC will in fact be their opponent today after beating Oregon State in the first round. Cal beat USC by 8 points in overtime at Haas Pavilion before beating them by 8 in regulation in L.A.

California dreams: From talented recruits to Pac-12 champions

The California Golden Bears women's basketball team has had a banner year. They won a share of the Pac-12 title, their first in program history. They enter the conference tournament with a program-best 15 game winning streak. Four Bears received All-Pac-12 honors, another probably should have, and the media honored second year coach Lindsay Gottlieb with the Coach of the Year award. Oh, and they beat Stanford.

But a beautifully done post-game Senior Day ceremony made me think back on all they've been through to get to this high point in the program - with hopefully more to come - and why watching the journey has helped make the destination that much sweeter. Looking back at the games of theirs that I've covered over the years and the photos we've accumulated to accompany them, I've tried to recapture the major moments of that journey.
