USA TODAY Sports
If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go fall over with my arms raised in triumph now.
Who? The Bulls of South Florida.
What? Chosen to compare with Bevo. Rocky started out as a toy idea. (D'awwww.)
Where? Tampa, Florida, which has something to do with sticks.
When? March 23rd, in Lubbock, Texas.
Why? It was a close thing, but their close losses to Notre Dame may have been the difference-maker.
How? They were an at-large selection.
Surprise? Predicted to finish ninth in the conference, they tied for sixth with DePaul and Villanova and came out on top in the tiebreaker.
RPI: 53
SOS: 58
Record: 21-10 (9-7 Big East)
Good wins: Florida Gulf Coast.
Bad losses: At Rutgers.
Who's in charge around here? Jose Fernandez, since 2000. With five daughters, he's got the makings of a starting lineup at home.
Extra, Extra! The Tampa Tribune and The Tampa Bay Times.
Commentators have played the Wonder Twins gimmick to death and back again when it comes to senior guards Andrea and Andrell Smith, so I'll let the numbers speak for themselves: 16.5 points and 5.2 rebounds for Andrea, 13.8 points and 4.7 assists for Andrell. Senior forward Inga Orehkova is a threat to score from anywhere on the floor (12.2 points, 32.9% from 3-point range on 222 attempts). And Jose Fernandez may be the most underappreciated coach in the Big East.
