Kristi Toliver re-signed with the Sparks, and will have additional backcourt help with Lindsey Harding taking pressure off of her to be a distributor. - Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE
Today. the Los Angeles Sparks announced in a press release that they have re-signed guard Kristi Toliver to a multi year contract. Toliver was the team's leading scorer from the 2012 season and was one of the highest profile restricted free agents this offseason.
Kristi Toliver is also the league's Most Improved Player and on the All-WNBA Second Team for the 2012 season, where she also had career rights in assists, steals, and field goal percentage and established herself as one of the top scoring guards and shooters in the WNBA. Here is Toliver's statement on her re-signing:
I couldn't be more fired up and humbled to remain with the Sparks for seasons to come. Los Angeles is about winning championships and I am determined to help bring another one back to this city. There is an expectation that lives here, and I’m honored to be part of that commitment.
With the recent signing of Lindsey Harding who is a more traditional point guard, it is likely that Toliver will play more off the ball so she can focus more on scoring which is her biggest strength as a player.
