San Antonio Silver Stars Forward Sophia Young suffers knee injury overseas in Chinese playoff game

Stars forward Sophia Young will likely miss significant time in the 2013 WNBA season, if not missing the entire season. - Soobum Im-US PRESSWIRE

According to Hoopfeed.com, Sophia Young tore lateral ligaments in her right knee while playing for the Beijing Great Wall in the semifinals of the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) playoffs.

Young averaged 19.5 points and 10.2 rebounds a game while playing in China. In the semifinal game, the Great Wall played against the Shanxi Flame, where Minnesota Lynx swingman Maya Moore plays. In the game, the Flame won and will play in the Finals agains Zhejiang Far East which features Tulsa Shock center Liz Cambage.

With Young suffering a knee injury, it is unlikely that she will be able to play in the 2013 WNBA season.
