We haven't done links in a few days because there weren't that many games per day, preview links are generally included in game threads (thanks to thewiz06), and James, Queenie and Ray covered Wednesday's games in Atlanta and New York already.
But there still a few things occurred that were worth noting this week - even late - and made a Friday post worthwhile.
- Jayda Evans of the Seattle Times reports that the Seattle Storm still feel they have room for improvement after a 101-74 blowout of the Tulsa Shock last night in which star center Lauren Jackson had a game-high 23 points in her fourth game back from the Olympics. The Storm broke a couple of franchise records with 29 assists (also a WNBA season-high) and 59.7% shooting from the field. Read more >>>
- The Storm's website has a full list of all the records and milestones from last night's game, including a career-high 5 assists from forward Camille Little and a career-high 4 3-pointers from rookie Shekinna Stricklen. Read more >>>
- Amelia Rayno of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Seimone Augustus did a great job shutting down Los Angeles Sparks guard Kristi Toliver on Tuesday in addition to scoring 23 points on 6-for-10 3-point shooting and surpassing Katie Smith as the franchise's all-time leading scorer. - Eric Detweiler of the Washington Post reported that coach Trudi Lacey attributed the Washington Mystics' inability to close a game against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday to playing with two young point guards and saw the loss as a "learning experience". A significant reason for the win was the Mystics being badly outrebounded by the Sun, 14-7 on the offensive boards. Read more >>>
- Richard Cohen of the WNBA Alien blog has far more on Tuesday night's games, if you're still looking to catch up further.
- Mel Greenberg reports that the All American Red Heads will be the first women's basketball team to be inducted into the Hall of Fame today, which will be televised on NBA TV today at 6:30 p.m. EDT. Former Georgia and Olympic star Katrina McClain will also be inducted today as well as Reggie Miller, who will become part of the first brother-sister pair in the Hall of Fame along with women's basketball legend Cheryl Miller. - David Siegel of Hoopfeed.com has a podcast up with the All American Red Heads and a nice summary of McClain and former Russian women's basketball coach Lidia Alexeeva if you'd like to get some background on tonight's induction.
- For more on the Hall of Fame ceremony - and all of today's inductees - check out SB Nation's storystream.
There are obviously more links today - especially on the Hall of Fame - so feel free to leave those in the comments along with any other thoughts and insights you have.
