Washington Post: Longtime Washington Mystics fans are discouraged by the team’s downward spiral

I should be excited for the Team USA doubleheader Monday, but the Mystics are taking more of my time for the wrong reasons. After a long period of silence by the media, the Washington Post finally is reporting on the Washington Mystics' woes beyond their 3-14 record. One thing reported is regarding the trends of the team's bottom line. There are 1,649 season ticket holders this season. Last year and 2010, there were about 300 more than that, and in 2008, there were 2,593. Yet, the team apparently has had more revenue, because the Mystics were able to get the jersey sponsorship with Inova Health, and also a major sponsorship with Kay Jewelers, where fans and TV viewers can see its logo on the court. For my take on what the Mystics need to do during the break, please see this link here. One big note on the team right now: Trudi Lacey's job appears "secure" as of now, so don't expect her to be fired. Unbelievable!!!!!
