"Canada should look south for gender equality in sport"

The writer of this piece states that "Canada is far behind the U.S. in terms of female opportunities in athletics." As someone who grew up thinking that our neighbors to the north (and, for some of us, the east) are more progressive than United Statesians, it is alarming to learn that there is no Canadian equivalent to Title IX. "As it stands now, [Canadian] female student athletes receive less funding and scholarship dollars than their male counterparts." (One correction: President Obama has filled out a bracket for the women's NCAA tournament for at least two years: 2011, 2012.
