Skylar Diggins' 27 points leads #2 Notre Dame to a 72-44 victory over #9 Tennessee
This game gradually slipped away bit by bit as it went on, but things got ugly in the 2nd half. Skylar Diggins made five threes tonight, and Devereaux Peters added 16 points and 16 boards. The Irish also win their 17th straight game this season.
As for the Lady Vols, they had their lowest scoring ever in the Pat Summitt era with this loss. It showed when Notre Dame made 50.8% of their shots while Tennessee only made 27.9% of theirs.

I caught the end of that game.
Notre Dame was up by 30 the whole time I was watching, but Muffet McGraw didn’t pull Diggins until a minute to go. Devareux Peters had come out a little before that. I am pretty sure there were starters still in the game for Notre Dame at the buzzer. I think that kind of piling it on is shameful.
Well, shameful is too strong a word.
But I would really like to see these coaches clear the bench sooner. Of course, maybe McGraw was gonna pull starters when Summit did.
It's not really my place to comment on ND's end-of-game decisions.
I’d agree, but since I write on the Lady Vols, I should defer. I can say, however, that Tennessee did rotate bench players in much more heavily in the closing minutes. They didn’t completely bench the starters, but they did pretty well abandon the starting lineup.

It should be noted that ND shot 68% in the second half.
Short story: Tennessee had a scoring slump early in the game, got frustrated at themselves, pushed too hard, and took themselves out of it. ND was tight early, but relaxed at halftime and took advantage of Tennessee’s mistakes.
Tennessee needs to learn to loosen up a bit. Related: somebody (anybody) on that team not named Glory Johnson has to want to win a bit more badly.
if you need me I'll be meebling in the corner
we’ve got ND next. mommy!
I am the victim of a basketball jones.
