I actually think they can win this game...
Bales, Lyttle, Paris, Irvin is stil one of the league’s strongest rebounding post rotations in the East. That’s still a weakness for Indiana.
They lost de Souza’s post scoring ability but if Lori Ann shows up today -which she really hasn’t in two games (Game 1 & Game 2 vs Conn) – it’s a different story.
It’s not THAT far fetched that they pull off a win…

Along these lines after watching one quarter...
Ball control/point guard play.
Indiana will not beat Atlanta turning the ball over like this with Atlanta’s small lineup.
I understand Dunn not giving in immediately and going small to match Atl, but attempting to guard Angel or Lori Ann with Tangela Smith was not the best idea…

I like Atl's game plan thus far...
They are coming down and get shots up quick instead of playing half court ball against a solid Indy defense.

I felt like Atlanta played really well in that first half

Foul trouble likely to play a factor.
I saw a tweet saying Indiana has to feel good about this position, but I’m not entirely sure about that: Atlanta has been shooting a lot of quick jumpers (which makes sense to keep the tempo up). If they get going driving to the basket more often, they’ll put up more points.

What Izi did on that drive is what Atl should look to on every play
Move the ball, get the D off balance, find a mismatch off the drive.

I know I often say that Maya Moore is going to develop into a Catchings-type player

This is the best I’ve seen them in the halfcourt all season.

Just because I find the Dream's ability to win essentially without threat of 3point shooting remarkable
When the Warriors went small and made that 2007 playoff run, part of what made their small ball work is 3s – they ran, shot a ton of threes, and that opened up the court for drives…

Didn't look good for Catchings there
Never a good sign when a player is carried off like that. Would hate to see a good playoff run altered on an injury.
Yeah. Game over.
And if Catch injury is as bad as it looks. Series over.
Injuries like that tend to affect a team one of two ways
They either ratchet up the intensity and band together for the fallen teammate, or it shakes the team up so badly things fall apart. Things had already fallen apart pretty badly in this game for them in the 2nd half, I’m not surprised they fall into the later category.

Look at how small her knees are too. She is small-boned.
Bonner is just a really extreme example of that metabolism.
I have the same issue. I can lose 20 lbs in a week, if I’m not paying attention. I have to eat ~3000 calories a day just to maintain as a couch potato, so when I’m working out I need to eat like crazy. But if you are that body type you need to pay attention and take care of yourself.
Some of us have also known severely anorexic people, so even if that’s not Bonner’s issue it makes us nervous to see someone so thin.

So I got to know her a little. She’s wonderful.
Anyway, my best moment as a fan came when I was watching the 2003 WWC and Di picked my friend and I out of the crowd because she recognized our voices. It’s pretty nuts when a player is on that big of a stage and takes the split second in the flow of play to acknowledge you. She also came up to us after the game.

There really is no other choice. This never was the Storm’s year, and I know they weren’t going to beat Minnesota. But I still would have preferred losing to them than Phoenix, just so that we could have a ceremonial “changing of the guard” in the West, the way we did last year.

You know, when Maya entered this league, I knew her team was gonna tear up the season. I just didn’t want it to happen this year, because I thought it would be better for Maya to be humbled by the competition and undergo some growth before she started dominating once again. But she’s breaking through already. That’s my ONLY gripe Minnesota winning it all, and it really isn’t that big a deal.
I think she IS though
She’s always been humble, and she’s had an up and down year. I think it’s a great credit to her and to Coach Reeve that she’s moving through this season so well and adjusting and learning new things.

I guess “humbled” is the wrong choice of words.
What I mean is, I like to see a revered warrior go through trials of struggling and disappointment before reaching the summit. It makes the journey more gratifying. Sometimes, the essence of a victory is found not at the finish line, but in all the little steps along the way.
this november some of you guys should join nanowrimo.org and write novels about the wnba
even if you’re not writers, it’s a great community, we post “nanoisms” or hilarious spelling errors we wrote while high on tic tacs and inspiration in the forums, and honestly, i want to see more novels about womens’ sports. I am a Script Frenzy and Nanowrimo holic.

NaNo scares me
I can write a lot- all gods know I can write a lot- but I can’t write that much from scratch in a month. I do keep track of my total wordcount, both fictional and GNoD, for the month and total it up; one year, I hit almost 40K, between drabbles, stories, and GNoD. But that was in college, before I had a 9 to 5:30 job and a co-writer to edit.
I am the victim of a basketball jones.
OK so...I thought ESPN said we'd be able to watch the trophy ceremony on EPSN3

Farewell for a little while, you all.
Keep those sweaty, dunk-free home fires burning for me while I go off to Britain to see my sweet, stubborn girl get married (in the midst of a Storm colors theme!). With any luck, LiveAccess and atdhenet.tv will bring in at least some of the games, albeit at odd times of the night and morning.
