It was good.

Those of you that have been around the WNBA longer than I...

when was the last time that anyone said, “[Team X] cannot win without Nakia Sanford”?

Call me cocky, but I can’t seem to shake that…

They could win a lot easier if they

had kept Braxton. Were Phil Jackson coaching the Mercury Braxton would still be there. Actually, from the coaches’ comments at the time, the decision to eject Braxton could have been all Anne Meyers-Drysdale.

Yeah...the Braxton trade is looming large now...

Might’ve been best for team chemistry regardless…

Any idea what it was about?

There must have been words exchanged, but were they with Tauarasi or the coach??

by ttdomi on Sep 17, 2011 10:23 PM EDT up reply actions

We’ve now learned from sources close to the situation that the reason for the suspension was Braxton’s response to criticism from Coach Corey Gaines regarding her lackadaisical play in games both before and after the All-Star break.

Braxton was said to have “mouthed off” to Gaines and in the locker room which prompted the suspension.

Watching college football today and it's bad news all around in the DC area

Maryland loses to Hick State U (send Edsall back to UConn… NOW! ALL TALK!!!)
Virginia loses to UNC again (fire the Richmond guy… NOW!! ALSO ALL TALK)
Virginia Tech ONLY wins by 19 over Arkansas State. BEAMER NEEDS TO RETIRE! NOW!!!
Navy loses to lousy South Carolina because the damn team doesn’t know what a shotgun formation is! FIRE THE HAWAIIAN! NOW!!!!!!
William and Mary, one of the FAVORITES for the Division I championship ONLY wins by 3 over New Haven! A DIVISION II SCHOOL!!!! PATHETIC!!!
Even Georgetown loses to freaking YALE!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only good news at least for the ACC is that Miami is beating Ohio State in a match of two programs about to get the Death Penalty, and Clemson destroyed Auburn, another school that cheats.

as for today, you probably would like to see this picture which is the theme of this entire game:

I will lurk periodically and root for the Hurricanes to beat Sweatervest’s school. I hate Miami, but Sweatervest looks like Dan Snyder when he’s 75.

Did you see the Maddow Show where she went off about SUCKEYES?

It was hilarious. The overall theme was about people in congress being disrespectful, but she used Sukeyes as an analogy.

by Shannon Cotterell on Sep 17, 2011 10:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Here it is and it's something I would never do:
Yesterday, in the House Energy and Commerce Committee, they held a hearing that was titled the "Consequences of Obamacare." That is not the shorthand nickname. That is not the shorthand nickname for the hearing. The committee actually put Obamacare in the title.

That‘s like if you were the University of Michigan, and you were hosting your big rival Ohio State. But instead of putting Buckeyes up on the scoreboard, you put "suckeyes" up on the scoreboard. Hilarious. Also petty.

House Republicans keep doing stuff like this. Let‘s have a hearing where we call it Obamacare.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41889548/ns/msnbc_tv-rachel_maddow_show/t/rachel-maddow-show-wednesday-march-nd/

Mine's Bonner

(I mean of the non-Aussie Mercs.)

by JustineL on Sep 17, 2011 10:39 PM EDT up reply actions

You and BearBloke,

who has finally succumbed to the Bonnette. He keeps hissing, “Wow!” and asking if I can guess how many rebounds she has so far.

by BearBint on Sep 17, 2011 10:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Yes it's that but still...

Ensure shakes. Something. She looks like she’s going to snap, poor thing. DRob has arms that are thicker than Bonner’s legs…

by Shannon Cotterell on Sep 17, 2011 10:45 PM EDT up reply actions

Extra fat won't keep them from snapping.

She must have very thin bones and not much muscle on them.

by ttdomi on Sep 17, 2011 10:50 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm not suggesting she get fat

I’m saying put on some more damn muscle. But yes, women are healthier with a little more body fat than guys, anyway.

You can get an idea of how thin Bonner's bones are by

looking at her knees and comparing them to the knees of the other players.

I will confess that I ALMOST bought a Smith jersey while in Seattle

But the numbers were the wrong color. Apparently she signed so late that the team had to get the blanks made locally and the local printer messed up the fore/background color on the numbers.

They messed up some of the Cash ones as well.

by Shannon Cotterell on Sep 17, 2011 10:43 PM EDT up reply actions

wnba needs to have authentic jerseys for sale.

i guarantee you they’d have more people buying them.

Here's an early problem or challenge...

As physical as this game is, Bonner cannot play 40 minutes.

As close as this game is, unless Sanford plays by some surprise, Bonner has to be in the game….

Twitter: @NateP_SBN.

she should play more

the problem is w/ the Merc the positions she plays best happen to be occupied by Taylor, Taurasi and Dupree. She’s ridiculously versatile but can’t play the five and neither can Dupree and Sanford is good for six hard fouls and not much else…it’s an issue

No, I have really just been emotionally captured by Dupree

You know how sometimes you watch a game you don’t care about and then all of a sudden you find you are pulling for one of the teams simply because of the performance of one player? This is that night. Generally speaking, I like the Storm better, and could easily see myself becoming rather Storm crazy if I lived there. But…Dupree…

When did you become the rational one? :)

Dupree is as smooth as they come. I ain’t mad atcha.

I could see where one would think that.

Like I said above:

A. It was unlikely that Bonner and Dupree alone could withstand the physical play of Little, Jackson*, and Willingham all game. Sanford gave them that boost that allowed them to hang on to the lead.

B. They were not going to win without Sanford’s 19 minutes of interior play, at home or KeyArena.
