I would like to see
USunn & the Dream beat each other up & go to at least triple overtime. Yes, I’m a NY Liberty fan but Indy are my 2nd fave east team.
I would love to see SASS give Minnesota a big fight. But I admit that SA are a future proposition.

In case people hadn’t noticed, I really have a soft spot for the Silver Stars as well. I can get behind the Lynx roflstomping just about every other team in the WNBA, but the thought of actively rooting against Jayne and DRob makes me a little sad.

As many pictures as there are on this site, there needs to be more music sharing, theme songs for players & teams and such. I’m open to suggestions, but will always default to Wu Tang and Stevie Wonder for making songs in the key of life and the hood.
But 80’s rule.
I always say I was born too late to fully appreciate what occurred musically in that decade. My fondest memories are of GI Joe and the Transformers…and Family Ties… and the Cosby show…and the Warriors being good.
Also, don’t you never, ever, evah, evahevahevahevah watch Neverending Story as an adult. You will regret it.

Growing list
Former Sky players who immediately reached the playoffs with the teams they were traded to: Ashley Robinson, Chelsea Newton, Armintie Price, Candice Dupree, Kristi Toliver, and Jia Perkins.
Monique Currie rounds out the seven players traded from Chicago to date, and she of course reached the playoffs in 2009 and 2010 with the Mystics.
I will say this
Even though I want Minnesota to lose, it would be nice to see people in Minnesota have something to cheer about after watching their team work hard all season long. Especially when other professional teams are not good.

Interesting comment at half about the Lynx shooting to many Js
In theory I agree and was thinking the same.
In practice: Maya, Seimone, Lindsay drive and kicks to Taj; no team can punish an opponent by spacing the floor better than this team, even when they’re taking a ton of long jumpers…
One of the things that makes Whalen impressive: she finds all of those shooters extremely well…it’s subtle, but really quite amazing to watch compared to other point guards. She just has a way of hitting gaps that most can’t/don’t do and it opens up so much for everyone else..

Speculative, but...
I’m not entirely sure Adams is an Auriemma type.
Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong on that…

Hard to say if she's the Auriemma type or not
They have had bigger bodies there before. She’s just a shorter bigger body.
But if in alternate universe she did play for UConn, nodoubt she would have gone higher.

He probably doesn't covet players that are
100 pounds overweight, but I am just saying, when you play on a team of high school all-americans that wins all the time, and you are the best player (although maybe it was Charles) you get magnified.
I guess the only reason I'm hesitant to place too much emphasis on that magnification is that he has produced WNBA All-Stars...
I need not list them all, but it’s not like, say, Duke players in the NBA.
Charles, Moore, Taurasi, Bird deserved, etc deserved every bit of praise they got…

My point in comparison to Duke men's basketball...
is that it’s not a mirage: the players coming out of there have been outstanding for the most part.

Many top programs have high school stars
Not all of that translates to pro success.

It's like the WNBA draft
Big difference between the lottery picks and the later first round, second round, third round, undrafted.
Auriemma gets to pick from the lottery candidates. Not the same as getting late first rounders or worse.
I see your point...
…but then my point is that these players coming out of that program are actually good. A lot of that attention is warranted.

Is there a top women's ball school
That has failed to produce good wnba players?
I would say OU
has a shot in that convo. Unless you count Abi Olajuwon, Courtney Paris, Ashley Paris, Amanda Thompson, etc etc as good wnba players.
Cuz I would definitely say OU counts as a top women’s bball school – especially in the Sherri Coale era.

That's a pretty good one...
and you even missed a major one: Stacey Dales (albeit derailed by injury).

DRob
Was obvy left off the above list intentionally. Because I think she’ll be a splendid pro. But other than that…hmm…not a ton of Sooner Magic in the W.

OH OH
And then look at the Pac-10!!! Great conference!! Best in the nation!!
And strangely so few WNBA’ers in recent years. Go figure.

If you go down the draft history of the WNBA,
there are a number of WAY overhyped players…
I won’t call a single school out, but I think college rep – not necessarily skill – does dictate some of that.
I think the single biggest factor – and can hear it from the way announcers talk about college accomplishments for veteran players – is tournament performance. People put way too much emphasis on performance in 2-3 games…and we’ve seen that in particular not pan out repeatedly… in fact, the 2010 draft is full of examples of that…

Do you think that's why DA was slighted in the draft?
I thought it was because of stupidity about her build.
College pedigree does count for a lot
Players from UConn and Tennessee will almost always get a look from WNBA teams, even if they weren’t the top player for their schools.

And in any event...
Moore deserved to go #1…no gripe there…

Lizzie!!!!!!!
What? Just imagine Australia is my college team.
lol
We’ve discussed this too, I guess: had Cambage been a college senior in this draft with the skillset she presents now (excuse the counterfactuals), would she have gone #1 due to exposure?
I’d still say the argument for Moore would be strong

She’d tell you that herself.

DRob
3 of 13 and they go to her for the game winner?
Then she tries to force the inbound pass over a taller player’s raised arms.
She’s still a really good player who’s improved steadily all season. And a rookie.
If SA can play at the same level with a big home crowd on Sunday, SA can win. The crowd won this game.
what other choice did they have
everyone shot terribly except for Adams
It was Phoenix then, and it's Phoenix now. Storm, you know what you gotta do!
DRob is usually money on those layups
I don’t think it was a bad call.

Jumper/Lay-up.
My comment was actually about the jumper. You’re right about her usually making those layups. Except the potential game winner against undefeated Baylor and the one tonight.

LaChina says
with regard to Katie Douglas “You have got to get a hand in her face. Let her talk to the hand.”
Reeve talks about basketball smart & clear
Impressive.
She has a clear interest in teaching
It’s not all “coach speak”. She wants people to understand and be able to follow along. It makes me happy.

I feel like a learned stuff from her
About the game. She must be awesome to play for.
Not saying a lot.
You’ve been known to fist pump when the Lynx trainer hands out gatorade during timeouts.
So if Katie Smith doesn't demand a trade to Seattle
Indiana doesn’t have Erin Phillips and probably wouldn’t have home court in the playoffs.
Welll... umm...
