Minnesota's Cheryl Reeve and Maya Moore Earn Awards
Laurel Richie will be in Minnesota to hand out a pair of 'of the year' awards tonight. If you didn't already guess the news that was flying around the internets yesterday, the two honorees have become officialized today.
Maya Moore was voted as Rookie of the Year in a landslide, amassing an impressive 38 of the 40 panel votes. Cheryl Reeve was tapped as runaway winner of Coach of the Year, getting 36 of the 40 possible votes.
Also announced today was the All-Rookie team, voted upon by the 12 league coaches. Unanimous selections were Moore and San Antonio's Danielle Robinson, with 11 votes each. Courtney Vandersloot (10 votes), Danielle Adams (9 votes) and Liz Cambage (9 votes) round out the top five rookies.

Nice job for Moore and Robinson
Since WNBA coaches couldn’t vote for their teams, they got unanimous votes.
I see the StormCrazies rumbling about Agler.
Some others are rumbling as well. They feel he should have been coach of the year for only losing 7 more games than last year despite losing LJ.
OK, so New York only lost 3 more games than last year despite losing two starters and the coaching staff. NY implemented a whole new system this season, has 3 players gutting their way through parts of the season injured, and has 2 players who deserve serious consideration for MIP. So should we give the award to Whiz for surviving attrition better than Agler ? ;)
Personally, I think Reeve has done a really stellar job this season. As was said during the broadcast last night, pre-season a lot of people wondered if there would be enough basketballs to go around in Minnesota. There were—Reeve got her high-scoring players to buy into a system of being more than just scorers. When you’ve got Seimone I Get Buckets Agusutus hyped about playing defense, you’ve got something good going on. But what do I know…I’m just a Lynx homer. ;)

The StormCrazies
Are … well … crazy. I seem to recall rumblings from this very group abt getting RID of Agler after he started the season 7-7 with a loss at home (2-2 WITH LJ still at the beginning of the year).
I see nothing questionable at all about the selections announced today … even some of the #LynxHomers I know were curious to see if Minnesota had learned the sharing lesson, which they obvy did. I say nice work to Minny, all around. Reeve is a more-than-solid choice this year.

Adams/Cambage
Only 9 of the 11 coaches voted for the above 2 rookies. Who didn’t vote for them? Who did they vote for instead of Adams/Cambage? And Vandersloot gets 10 votes? Even any semi-stathead who follows this blog and looks at Nate’s excellent player statistics can see Vandersloot doesn’t belong here and that Adams and Cambage should have been unanimous selections along with Moore and Robinson..
I'm blaming the Eastern coaches
They only had to prepare for Adams/Cambage 2x, and if Adams was injured when their teams played they maybe never looked at her at all.
I’d like to shake the hand of the coach who didn’t vote for Vandersloot…and I want to know who that coach picked instead…

I would also like to see
who the others receiving votes were. Curious who else got a hat tip around the league, even if they weren’t selected…
who the others receiving votes were
Based on Nate’s statistics and picks, I think Jantel Lavender probably got some of the other votes. Maybe Nate’s not the only one brave enough to look at total merit and put 2 centers on the team.
