Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

Just let me have this night, please! Congratulations to the ladies of the Tulsa Shock for holding on for a win!! I am so very much happy that those girls who really do work so hard found a moment of happy in a season of ... not-so-much.

Tulsa picked up the 77-75 win after a Sheryl Swoops signature J fell with just a couple seconds left to give the Shock the game-winner. Tulsa got 20 & 11 from Tiffany Jackson, 18 from Ivory Latta and 17 & 9 from Swoopes in just their second win of the year.

DO YOU COME FROM A LAND DOWN UNDER
WHERE WOMEN GLOW AND MEN PLUNDER
CAN’T YOU HEAR, CAN’T YOU HEAR THE THUNDER
YOU’D BETTER RUN, YOU’D BETTER TAKE COVER

Lauren Jackson is back, and not a moment too soon!

A shock win = a lot of drinks

I don’t want to put a number on that just in case they start getting on a hot streak

If you believe in comparative scores, this is bad news for the Merc

The Storm blew out the Shock at home, while LA was unable to defend their home court against the same team. A couple of weeks ago, the Merc could not even beat the Sparks in LA without Candace Parker. And the Merc have 2 games coming up against Tulsa. So the Tulsa upset can’t be good news for the Merc, except maybe Tulsa will be a little less hungry for a win.

I’ve pretty much given up hope that the Merc are going to do anything in the playoffs this year, but I would love to see them rise up out of the ashes, like a phoenix, and get a W against the Storm on 9/9/11.

The Shock can celebrate - a rare win it was on conventional TV

Great performance by Tiffany Jackon (double double), Iatta, and Lacy,
all of who shot above their season averages (particularly Iatta).

The 3 point shooting performance played a central role.

Tulsa shot a respectable 36.8% (season average 28%) from 3 pt range
and hit 7 of 19 attempts when they usually hit less than 5 of 17 attempts.
