WNBA Open Thread: Atlanta/Connecticut Rematch Starts the Three-Game Slate at 5 p.m. ET

A trifecta of basketball games is on the WNBA slate today. Your lovely thread host will be hopping in the car momentarily to blast up the Turner Turnpike to Tulsa. As such, I task you, the marvelous Swish Appeal community, to keep the thread hopping for the first two games before I join the threading fun!
Post your commentary on the games, your thoughts on playoff positioning and your pictures of awesomeness!
Atlanta at Connecticut
The first game of the day marks a repeat of Friday’s lone contest. In Atlanta, the Dream took care of home court to win 94-88 in overtime, led by Angel McCoughtry’s 24 points.

Los Angeles at Tulsa
LA is coming into Tulsa fresh off a 19-point loss to Minnesota last night where the Lynx punched their playoff ticket. The Shock hope their week of rest will result in a win - and a narrow escape from a dubious record.

I embrace the fact that women come in all shapes and sizes...

But can’t this league find uniforms that fit women correctly? There are a number of players with uniforms so tight I can see rolls.

Just like on Friday...

Atlanta has no answer for Asjha Jones. The other 10 though. The Dream do just fine.

This team has no consistency...

This team can score more than 25 in each quarter like against Minnesota and then score 7 points in the 4th like they did against Atlanta and New York. It’s mind boggling.

Atlanta is the same way

so much of their offense is fueled by their defense. They have a harder time scoring in the half court.

Officials -

the two bad teams in the league

For no apparent reason would rather play vets for close losses than develop the young talent they have.. tulsa isn’t building on swoopes. jeez… the mystics also should play dunlap a lot more than they are and Phillips was cut… Just frustrating…

LA 65, Tulsa 56 - 5:53, 4th quarter

I’m not happy at all. It’s not even like LA is playing marvelously or something to get back in this. Tulsa is just playing awful. And you can tell their confidence that was ever present in the first half has all but disappeared.

by Jessica Lantz on Aug 21, 2011 8:54 PM EDT reply actions

:(

Only Jennifer Lacy has remained + in the +/- column. Pedersen and Cambage have the worst minus.

I really don't know what to think

It’s like they’re used to playing from behind so that’s what they’re doing…. it’s now a 6-point game (LA leads)… 3 minutes to play

LA 67 - Tulsa 61; 2:44, 4th quarter

Tulsa’s shooting percentage, once 67% is now 42%. The Shock have 1 20 second timeout remaining, Sparks with a full & 2 20 second timouts…

+/- stats back up the starting lineup

Starters ranged from -4 to +3 in larger minutes than the bench which was

Riley -8 in 4:54

by thewiz06 on Aug 21, 2011 11:10 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

well they only had two bad seasons so far..

and they do have two high draft picks who are rookies this year. Sure, they haven’t been playing as much as I’d like, but at least they’re still in Tulsa right now. Maybe I sound self serving, but Mystics fans have had to deal with a lot more over 14 years than what Tulsa has had to in just two years.
