WNBA Open Thread: Four Games, Including Sparks-Dream On NBA TV

Our Jessica Lantz will be at the BOK Center once again to live blog tonight's Chicago Sky - Tulsa Shock game while the Los Angeles Sparks will be playing the Atlanta Dream on NBA TV.

The rest of tonight's action will be on WNBA LiveAccess and we invite you to geek out on with us - regardless of what screen you're staring at - for a four-game night.

Los Angeles Sparks @ Atlanta Dream

7 p.m. EDT | Phillips Arena, ATL

NBA TV

The Atlanta Dream continue their playoff push after Angel McCoughtry "career-highed" the Tulsa Shock (Jessica and I have decided that term should officially be made a verb. You are free to present linguistic arguments to the contrary. You are doomed to fail.).

Angel McCoughtry, the Sultan of Swag?

Washington Mystics @ New York Liberty

7 p.m. EDT | Prudential Center, Newark, NJ

LiveAccess

One DC fan has stated his desire to see recently signed Liberty rookie Ta'Shia Phillips dunk on the Mystics in her first game against the team that waived her. He has truly bought into the Expect Great theme. And Sue Wicks will be honored too for stuff she's actually done already.

Indiana Fever @ Connecticut Sun

7:30 p.m. EDT | Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, CT

LiveAccess

This could end up being the best game of the night, with the Sun and Fever battling for first place in the East. Follow Holly Tanneyhill on Twitter for updates: @BuiltByDays.

Chicago Sky @ Tulsa Shock

8 p.m. EDT | BOK Center, Tulsa, OK

LiveAccess

We were forced to turn career-high into a verb just in case All-Stars Sylvia Fowles, Epiphanny Prince, or Courtney Vandersloot "career-high" the Shock in some manner. But don't lie - you want to see the Shock win a game again. If it happens, Jessica will be happy. When Jessica's happy, she writes hard-hitting stories about Harry Potter. You can also follow Jessica on Twitter: @j_lantz.

Feel free to add your links, linguistic insights, wit, and over/under on whether Ta'Shia Phillips will dunk on her old team tonight in the comments before, during, and after the games.

Let’s go Liberty! :D

(OK for people who have not figured it out yet…Lynx are my team in the West, Liberty in the East. Yes I get to have 2 teams because I only need to feel conflicted when they play each other 2x a year or if they meet in the playoffs…and having those 2 teams meet in the finals would be a GOOD problem to have.)

Nate you hit my sentiments exactly..

The girl is 6’6" so she definitely should have the hops to dunk. I expect great… except from my team and I still love them anyway!

Teams and the league are not able to talk about or promote players in any way as part of the terms of the lockout

In the case of a team like Was or Tul who have ownership involvement in both leagues, it could be a violation of league policy during this lockout.

Aha

I see what you mean…

I’m not sure how far the policy extends though.

The Storm are an independent entity in a NBA-run league…

The very fact that the event occurred might lead me to believe it's a non-issue

But I’d have to check.

Events when owners and team staff bump into players

require either permission or a “police report” from both sides that such an event happened.

He was a good Storm owner though

he kept the core playing and let the team run business as usual. He also made the right move by not moving them to OKC, because attendance would likely have been bad though prob not at Tulsa levels.

On to Tulsa...

Cambage taking jumpers like KD….

It looked like Lizzie...

…was maybe getting a little frustrated about getting called for fouls and stuff a few minutes ago, so maybe she needed some time on the bench to relax and cool off.

Great heads up by Hot and Lacy to get the ball back and trap Eshaya Murphy

But now Murphy

Gets a very … kind call from the refs to convert an and-1.

Chicago has opened up a 9-point lead… 59-50 with 3:34 to play

Are you going to hurt my heart again tonight??? FYI, KD is still courtside….I like that he’s watching the whole game…

Teresa calls a timeout

I think it’s curious that Kayla and Liz aren’t playing right now. Maybe I just like our rookies, but our ‘vets’ aren’t exactly tearing it up right now…just one field goal in the half, Holt just turned it over BAD in the corner after wasting hella time….
