I have little knowledge of WNBA basketball or the players.  I do follow women's college basketball a little though, mainly just Mizzou and the nation during tournament time but I know the differences from men's to women's and the top players. 

My friend believes that the average high school varsity boys team could beat a WNBA team.  He claims that the boys team is much more athletic than the women's team, and that athleticism is enough to counter the pure basketball skill of the women.  I say if he runs a man-to-man defense a motion offense could still get good looks at the basket.  If he runs zone I believe that helps even more because athleticism is not needed to score against a 2-3 zone, just smart passes.  And the women would easily shoot out of the zone.

Defensively I think a 2-3 zone would give the women the best chance to win, because then the boys can't just use their athleticism to get to the basket, they'll need real basketball skill.

He still doesn't get it though.  He says he'll do a full-court press to beat the women and get easy baskets, I say that breaking a press requires smart passes and that the women are much more athletic than he gives them credit for.  He says the boys would rebound everything they wanted, but I doubt that considering the box-out techniques that the women know.  

In short, I think that the boys would be slightly more athletic, but the women are much stronger and much smarter in terms of basketball than my friend thinks and are clearly much better shooters than the boys. 

Despite both our cases, the argument is still pretty much at a deadlock.  As WNBA followers, I get the feeling that you people know much more than I about just how good these women are.  Help me convince my friend that a high school boys basketball team would get crushed by professional WNBA players.

For argument's sake let's say the game is operating under standard WNBA rules.
