Seattle is now back in Tulsa...

I still remember the disgrace of losing to the Shock on the road…but the Storm probably don’t. If they screw up tonight…I don’t know what I’m going to do. I am sick and tired of getting bullied. We’re the Seattle Storm, god damnit. WE’RE THE ONES WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING THE BULLYING, YOU HEAR ME?

Well DOT DOT DOT yeah.

That’s a terrible, unsportswomanlike attitude, but I can’t help sharing it.

BearBloke and I were at our local, virtuous-organic pizzeria, watching Phoenix and looking out glumly for the Seattle score, unable to believe that they were trailing the Shock (fond though I am of Cam-beige).

Tulsa & Seattle starters...

For the Storm:
- the usual
Sue Bird, Tanisha Wright, Swin Cash, Camille Little & Lauren Jackson

For the Shock:
- the same as the win on Saturday (which means no Lizzie starting)
Ivory Latta, Sheryl Swoopes, Kayla Pedersen, Tiffany Jackson, Jennifer Lacy

Officials:
Tom Mauer, Eric Brewton, Felicia Grinter

I think you just wanted to type "Tulsa" and "win" in the same sentence again :)

How did Cambage respond to coming off the bench? Does she think it helps her? What was the reasoning again?

Cambage

She said it was precautionary since she’s had two previous concussions so they were being careful with her health…Nolan also said they’re were planning to give her just a few minutes a quarter to bring her back in easy (after the Saturday win)…

Shock must be

pinching themselves on the sidelines.

by ttdomi on Jun 21, 2011 8:37 PM EDT up reply actions

Shock needs to be more agressive about getting

it in to Cambage down low. She’s getting the ball higher than Jackson and Monroe and Pedersen. Or maybe her defender is pushing her out (technically a foul but not called normally).

by ttdomi on Jun 21, 2011 8:44 PM EDT reply actions

A little of both

Her defender is usually LJ…who can do a good job of moving Lizzie where she wants her. But Nolan has said that she needs to work on staying inside…I just don’t think she’s used to it. (which is a lil weird…)

by Jessica Lantz on Jun 21, 2011 8:46 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't think the Australian league

allows shoving by the defender. But in the highlight clip I saw on youtube, she was most of her time posting up pretty low.

The problem with Voepel and the other

“experts” is that they do adequately take into consideration what it does to a team when you lose four starters, all of whom are at the all-star level of play. The results aren’t gonna be pretty no matter who is running the show.

is that "it takes two" playing?

People complain about almost no dunking in the WNBA. I LIKE that there is almost no dunking in the WNBA. That way, we're never subjected to garbage like LeBron and Bosh strutting and posing and hollering like punks after doing something as basic as jumping high enough.

Tiff Jackson is a hustle player

Don’t see her as someone you dump it to down low when you need buckets.

Full court pressing

seems counter-productive most of the time in the pros.

That's mildly surprising...

Figured that SASS would defend home after beating them on the road…

But the Merc seemed to wake up in the 2nd quarter…

Jackson won the tip, but she

floated it softly to where Wright was able to step in and grab it. Needed a hard tip directly to Latta.

Basket stands

According to my math it shouldn’t. But I didn’t pore over the monitor for 5 minutes either. Bummer for Tulsa. Down by five with 38.3 to play

That hurts

They got a tie up, then blew the tip and allowed a layup in 3 seconds.

Man alive

I don’t know if the Storm realize that everyone’s out for their blood, everyone is seeking revenge for all the bullying they did last season. They should paint bullseyes on their jerseys, because they are walking targets.

The moral victory for the Shock

is that they seem to have stopped melting down like they did the first 3 games.

Damn! The Phoenix-SASS game

on ESPN2 was pretty good, but I wish I could have seen the Storm at Tulsa. LJ’s hurt? Damn again.
