Dawn Staley will not be the next women's basketball head coach at Virginia - Streaking The Lawn
Although it was widely assumed that Dawn Staley would become the next Virginia Cavaliers head coach - and even rumored to be a done deal - that was not to be. What is interesting however is the list of candidates: Georgetown's Terri Williams-Flournoy, Temple's Tonya Cardoza, and UCLA's Nikki Caldwell, who apparently visited campus earlier this week.

Good news for the SEC.
Staley is a definite help at South Carolina. Once her incoming class gets in (which includes players taller than Oompa-Loompas), the Gamecocks ought to see marked improvement over the next two years.
It's not always necessary to have someone from the same coaching tree
succeed a renowned coach to build on past success.
Any coach that comes to UVA already has an uphill battle with Duke, UNC, Maryland, Georgetown, WVU, and even JMU recruiting the same athletes the Cavs are looking for. Dunno if I would put ODU in the conversation at this point because they’ve gradually declined over the long haul. Unless the coach is a great recruiter, taking this job may not necessarily be a blessing with Duke, Maryland, and Carolina perennially at the top, and you also have to put in FSU and Georgia Tech in the conversation too.
Of the guys listed, where is Jennifer Rizzotti? I don’t think she wants to stay at Hartford forever.
