To unseat the #1, it's time for Adams and Colson to step up
From aggiesports.com writer Robert Cessna:
"I need for [Adams] and Colson to do it in the major games," A&M head coach Gary Blair said. "[Against] the Baylors, the Gonzagas and the second [round NCAA Tournament] games — and we need for them to do it every night.
"This is there last go-around. There’s no tomorrow, there’s not what ifs, should have or could have. It’s time for them to be step up and be seniors and lead this ballclub. Find a way [to get it done]."
And to unseat the #2, OU's Danielle Robinson must embrace her role as team leader and be the "best point guard in America".
From the Tulsa World's Lynn Jacobsen:
"Women's basketball analyst Debbie Antonelli labeled Robinson "the best point guard in a America" during a recent televised broadcast.

Best PG in America?
Robinson isn’t even the best PG in the Big 12. I’d take Colson over Robinson any day of the week.

Honestly, I was thinking the same thing tonight....
…and in fact, I think that’s an interesting comment on draft status: Robinson is slightly taller, but Colson is a MUCH more efficient distributor…near the best in the nation…

Draft status
In terms of the draft, the calculation is different.
Colson is no prospect at all. Guards who can’t shoot or finish never succeed at the next level.
I’m not as high on Robinson as some people. She’s way too turnover prone to play the point in the W and she lacks the shooting range to succeed at the two. At best she’s an Armintie Price type, someone who can play defense and outrun the other team on fast breaks.

I think that's probably a fair assessment of Colson
I hadn’t looked at her shooting numbers … but they’re not great…
History aside – like Tanisha Smith last season – I’d be interested to see how well she does in a combine setting against some of these more “highly regarded” point guards…
On comparing Robinson to Price – I see your point, but she handles better than Price for sure and I’d argue has a more controlled game, if still chaotic. So I want to think she’ll be a bit better than that… but you’re at least right that she at least has to develop to be the starting pg some people might imagine…

I was surprised
…that Antonelli even said D Rob was the best in America. I like her and think her game has grown over the last couple years, but that’s quite a (too) strong statement, imho.
