Around SBN: Indy 500: 'Greatest Spectacle In Racing' Set For Sunday

The year 2011 proved that the women's sports glass is at least half full and, in my view, getting fuller all the time. While work still remains to be done to solidify women's sports enterprises as a business matter, 2011 should go down as another encouraging chapter in the story of the post-Title IX march.

From Surveying a significant year in women's sports by Val Ackerman.

From a basketball perspective, we had a WNBA champion that could make a case for being one of the better teams of all-time, an expansion team that made back-to-back WNBA Finals visits, and among the most exciting and surprising Final Fours in recent memory.

While it might not be a "tipping point" year for women's basketball, what happened in basketball did contribute to an exciting year overall.

I agree, this was a good year in women's sports overall.

Team USA soccer returns to the world cup final after being counted out earlier, and Japan won it in PK’s in the same year as a devastating earthquake.

WNBA hits 15 years. A new first time champ in Division I basketball.

Now, can anyone here call Maya or Diana to come stateside to wear Monumental Red white and blue? We need some help… BIG TIME for the Wizards!
