First Nationally Televised College Women's Basketball Game Immaculata University (then College) played The University of Maryland in the first nationally televised college women's basketball game. The game was cut off near the end by the network broadcast of the movie Heidi. The game was played on January 27, 1975. Immaculata defeated Maryland by a score of 85-63. For the curious, the first men's NCAA basketball game to be televised took place about 35 years earlier, in February 1940.
