"Down to the five-minute mark we were right there and we got stuck on 59. They turned the defense up at the five-minute mark and it got really physical at that point. We got bumped off a couple cuts, the kids might have been a bit tired, they were a little more physical than we were down the stretch, but that's how the game is played. It's a good learning experience for our kids and something that we have to build off as we move forward."

So close, but as we all know close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

According to Maryland’s coach, "What I liked about this game is from start to finish we had to work." While I didn’t think Michigan was likely to win this one, I hoped they would and also knew they were capable of it. And they came close. I think the fact that they kept up with a very good team for most of the game bodes well for the rest of the season.

I agree...

When you look at where this program is (a few consecutive WNIT appearances and not making the NCAA tournament in about a decade) it’s nice to see them just competing with a top team like that.

I look forward to seeing what they can do in Big Ten conference play – I haven’t yet seen Mich St or Ohio St (I NEED BTN!!!) but I think this shows they can challenge those schools.
