The Indiana University women's hoops team takes part in ROTC training.
I'm of mixed opinion regarding the utility of this training. Part of me says that the team would be better served by working on its fundamentals but I'm also happy that the athletes are leaving the cloister of the gym.

"Mental toughness, physical strength, mental agility it takes to outthink and outfight any opponent around the world"
Those aspects of a military mentality are things that would certainly be valuable to any contact sports team and I think it’s no surprise that a few successful coaches in history do have a military background (or demeanor).
But to your point, I heard about a team the other day that has been running 6-8 miles a day, which I would argue has less value than these military exercises, believe it or not (though we don’t know that they’re NOT doing that too.
