Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

In unsurprising fashion, Brittney Griner was tapped to repeat as Big 12 player of the year. Griner was 2010 all-American, Big 12 player of the year and defensive player of the year as the Bears made it to the NCAA Elite Eight.

Joining Griner on the all-Big 12 team are teammate Odyssey Sims, Carolyn Davis (Kansas) Toni Young (Oklahoma State), Chasidy Fussell (Texas) and Tyra White (Texas A&M).

She's such a homer ;)

I really enjoyed Ellenberg last year…look forward to seeing how she does…

Kelsey Bone TAMU

Add my homer comment:)
I can’t wait to see Kelsey Bone on the basketball court wearing an Aggie Uniform.
Little known fact. A&M held tryouts for walk-ons this past Monday. Don’t know the results.
Given the talent they have on the roster, I will be surprised if any walk-ons make the team.

Tyra White

Next year’s possible WNBA draft sleeper. Love her game so much, even when she’s using it to kill Stanford. ;)

Aggies to White House

Somewhat related comment (:
The national champion Texas A&M women’s basketball team will be honored Thursday by President Obama at the White House It will be interesting to see who shows up. Hopefully this was worked out so Adams and Colson can make the trip before heading overseas to play more basketball.

Colson hasn't signed with anyone yet, has she?

Last I heard she was still waiting for something, and likely to hang out on College Station and keep working out in the meantime. She didn’t actually get an agent until August, which put her way way behind the curve, especially since guards aren’t in as high demand overseas as posts are.

I found the article with the info on Colson

Worth reading: http://www.chron.com/news/article/Colson-makes-adjustment-from-A-amp-M-to-WNBA-2198692.php

Waiting game

Her plan is to head overseas, but she is stuck in a waiting game.

“Apparently, if you have ‘WNBA’ after your name, it helps,” she said. “I got in the game late, though, and a lot of spots were taken, so we will see what happens.”

Her backup plan is to stay in Houston and go back and forth to College Station to continue to work out so she can be ready for next season.

“There is no guarantee that I will make the team next year, but I will keep myself in shape so I can try,” she said.
