USA Basketball falls to Argentina 58-55 in Pan Am Games
The US team was defeated by Argentina 58-55 in their first contest of the Pan Am Games today. UConn verbal commit Breanna Stewart set a Pan Am Games record of 21 rebounds, to go along with a team-high 18 points and four blocks in the loss.
Katelan Redmon (Gonzaga) added 16 points and 8 rebounds to finish as the only other American in double-digit scoring. Noticeably absent from the box score (at least to me) were Kevi Luper (Oral Roberts) and April Sykes (Rutgers).
The US faces Puerto Rico tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. ET and finishes up preliminary pool play Sunday at 9 p.m. ET against host Mexico.
