Big story: Storm playing without Lauren Jackson (SBN Seattle)

Smaller story: Did Cappie Pondexter deserve a suspension? (Or DeLisha Milton-Jones for that matter?)

Random question:

Does that IPhone app stream games too? Would be good for people trying to hide at work… not that the league would ever enable such things…

Without Jackson patrolling the paint, it’s apparently much easier to grab offensive rebounds against the Storm.

Adia likes saying “Pirates Booty” for entirely too much..

The Liberty are showing a little bit of that tendency to settle for perimeter jumpers… but it’s all going in… so oh well…

At halftime, the Storm will have to find a way to deny the entry passes to the post if they’re not going to stop it at the point of attack…

Halftime report (SBN Seattle)

http://seattle.sbnation.com/2010/7/6/1555214/jackson-leaves-a-void-but-close-to

Cutting the Liberty’s offensive rebounding percentage from 56% to 33% while maintaining their own 50% didn’t hurt the Storm in the 2nd quarter either.

After a 13-1 Seattle Storm run, the Liberty use a 6-0 run of their own to wrestle back control of the lead.

Offensive rebounding is still a factor in this game: the Liberty are beating the Storm 4-0 on the offensive boards to start the half….

elaborate.

because it looks to me that this falls on the players.

by LJRotter on Jul 6, 2010 4:59 PM EDT up reply actions

It's a season-long issue

-Bad player rotations (why did Greene play 25 minutes? It’s not like she was locking down Seattle’s guards from what I could tell. Pierson and Spencer less than 20 minutes combined?)
-Poor play calling (did Taj score on a set play in the second half at all? I did leave momentarily to grab a snack, so dunno for sure)
-Defensive rotations were nonexistent once Seattle figured out how to move the ball w/o LJ

Donovan made some sound adjustments prior to the game, but once the ball tips, man—she sucks. How many times did they get burned by a player driving middle for drop-off passes to wide-open teammates at the rim? You can see things like that from the sidelines, so you make the adjustment (i.e. stop trying to take the ball out of the ballhandler’s hands and let the second defender stay home). Otherwise, you let a team that you were dominating in the first half steal one from you.

If you’re a Lib fan, you have to be thrilled that she’s out of there come August 22. The franchise seems to be in enough of a funk as it is.

by just checkin on Jul 6, 2010 5:12 PM EDT up reply actions

They looked disorganized for much of the second half

Surely that has to fall on the coach. She has TOs, bench players, and a clipboard for a reason.

by just checkin on Jul 6, 2010 5:15 PM EDT up reply actions

thanks for explaining

I see what you’re saying. I also feel like a lot of what she says may sometimes fall on deaf ears…

by LJRotter on Jul 6, 2010 8:20 PM EDT up reply actions

That wouldn't surprise me if true

and I think Blazejowski needs to accept most of the blame for this team not being a contender. This was, after all, her vision. Anne is a lame duck coach who can only do so much. Blaze has been with the team since the beginning. She needs to update her resume or else I can’t see this team surviving the move out of MSG.
