The Tulsa Shock waived 2011 second round draft pick Amanda Thompson and latest acquisition Ashley Walker on Monday and signed veterans Kiesha Brown and Jennifer Lacy.

Brown, an eight-year veteran out of the University of Georgia, appeared in 34 games last year for the Connecticut Sun, averaging 3.8 points-per-game in 11.6 minutes a night. Brown has also played for Los Angeles, Minnesota, New York, Houston and Washington.

Lacy, a four-year veteran out of Pepperdine University, appeared in 32 games for Atlanta in 2009, averaging 3.0 points in 11.3 minutes a game.

Freelantz has more insight on the perspective of Oklahoma sports fans.

But what are your thoughts on what this means for the Shock?

Yeah...I'm surprised...

But Brown does play defense…

And Lacy is athletic…

So theoretically, both players fit the mold he’s looking for…

what is this i don't even

Yes, let’s alienate the fans- because you have so many to spare- by cutting the OU kid. Was he jealous she was getting more applause than he was? And either Ashley Walker didn’t report or they better have paid her airfare or summat, because that’s harsh.

With all due respect to Kiesha Brown, her only saving grace is her tendency to go all Roaring Rampage of Revenge on her former teams, and they are legion. And Jennifer Lacy? What, is this some master plan to screw with San Antonio? Because that’s Jennifer Lacy’s best skill.

And Marion Jones is still employed. Oyy.

I am the victim of a basketball jones.

I don’t know if it’s better or worse that she both practiced and played in 2 games and then got cut…

I saw Kiesha Brown...

The ones who were waived weren't helping his team

The ones who were signed might. This is not a bad move at all.

Sigh

The WNBA isn’t going to make a fan out of me by jerking around my favorite player(s).

I hear you...

…and it wasn’t just Cal fans who were thinking Walker was a good player for both the Storm and Shock…

…and more than that, she only got two games with the Shock. She’s certainly not lacking for talent, but I do wonder if defense is figuring into both of those cuts…

hmm

Ashley Walker doesn’t play defense?
Maybe Phoenix should take a look at her ;)
If only they could waive Oldhe and her huge salary…..

"If only they could waive Oldhe and her huge salary….."

Wouldn’t need to (though it would be nice). Just waive either Holmes or Brooke Smith and designate the one you keep as the “next to go” in the event of an injury to a guard. As I said in a previous post re Mercury bench, Phoenix is making this harder than need be.

See where you're coming from, but

it’s up to the players to keep themselves from getting jerked around. Walker is a former first round pick in a recent draft who has been cut twice in a month’s time. She’s had chances. At some point, we have to look at Walker and accept that what she brings right now isn’t enough to outweigh her shortcomings at this level for most teams.
