Around SBN: New York Giants Win Super Bowl XLVI, 21-17

The 2010 NCAA women's basketball tournament brackets were announced today.

Queenie has already written up capsules for all the automatic bids. You can find every one of those here.

Over the next few days, Jessica will be posting accounts of the OSU selection party as well as a preview of Big 12 teams and Queenie and I will post some thoughts on our respective conferences.

Very soon I will be making my picks along with other contributors at Women Talk Sports some time in the next few days -- feel free to join us!

And best of all, I will be at Bank of America Arena for the first and second round games in Seattle, including my first look at Courtney Vandersloot in person.

For ESPN's brackets, click here.

It's madness.

Surprised at how much the committee disdains Pac-10 basketball, Q?

Most Pac-10 teams on the bubble had a bad loss or losses here and there...

…and then were quite inconsistent…

Next year..and the one after that…and the one after that.. should be much better for the conference after all of these freshmen grow up…

I certainly had to complaints about Cal or ASU getting left out. I thought USC got a bit of a raw deal, although they had chances to get themselves in too. I mostly felt bad for UCLA. They had a great season and their reward was a potential 2nd round matchup with Nebraska, if they even get that far.

I hear that...

USC kinda blew it with their mid-conference losing streak..

UCLA has reason to be upset: they were a much different team once Dixon started playing…

Have you checked these out?

Should be fine against NC St, Nebraska is a tough draw though…

But think about it this way too: non-conference was not terribly strong and they went 0-2 vs the strongest opponents…then of course, they lost badly to Stanford in Palo Alto. Loss to USC doesn’t really help. So without watching them closely, there’s nothing that stands out about UCLA as particularly strong compared to some of the other resumes… :/

Most of all, they’re probably being penalized for the entire Pac-10…which is unfair, if perhaps understandable…
