Determination and Skill: "Jasmine Dixon Named Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player Of The Week"
Per the link above, Jasmine Dixon was named Pac-10 player of the week this week.
Perhaps there's no better way to describe UCLA forward Jasmine Dixon's game than the way she put it herself:
"I would just say that I'm trying to be a blue collar worker, doing all the little things that coach needs me to do to help the team win - anything they need me to do, they can count on me," said Dixon, after recording 31 points and 20 rebounds against the University of Oregon on Saturday.
As she alludes to it's worth noting this: the 5'11" forward got most of her points in the paint, as one might expect from her 12 offensive rebounds, but it's not as though it was all put backs. She got those points in a number of ways within the flow of the game.
Dixon scored on a combination of drives to the basket, post ups, and short fade away jumpers. It's not just a matter of out-working opponents or showing more determination. Dixon is a very, very skilled player who has become the heart and soul of this UCLA team in a very short period of time.
