Washington Huskies: UW's First Half Shooting Struggles Lead To 59-54 Loss

2

When Washington Huskies coach Tia Jackson walked into the media room after their 59-54 home loss against UC Riverside, she wondered aloud whether someone had died in there because it was so quiet. After all, UC Riverside coach John Margaritis said that they didn't really outplay the Huskies this afternoon. And indeed nobody had died - to the contrary, the Huskies showed signs of life in the second half after being down 31-19 at halftime. They even dominated the Highlanders on the boards. However, one potential explanation for the perceived media room mood is that people were trying to come up with gracious ways of describing a first half performance in which the Huskies shot 4-for-21 after having won three straight on the road. But maybe it was just one of those games because even Jackson didn't have an answer when asked about it. "No, but if you come up with something, you do share that with me now," Jackson said jokingly when a reporter asked about a theory for their first half shooting struggles. "I have no idea."
