The Lady Bulldogs beat their first three opponents by an average of 19.3 points and Georgia outrebounded USC 44-31.
Georgia led by as many as 11 in the first half when Philips scored on a putback making it 21-10.
From there, the Trojans slowly chipped away at the lead.
With Georgia ahead 27-20, USC scored five straight points to shift the momentum.
The teams were deadlocked 31-31 at halftime after USC guard Jacki Gemelos hit a 3-pointer with 51 seconds left before the break.
Both teams struggled from 3-point range in the first half with Georgia shooting 12.5 percent and USC 21.4
