Dishin & Swishin: Geno's "Starting to Get Excited!"

The defending national champions have now finished their exhibition season, and will prepare for the real games, Sunday vs Holy Cross, and a featured matchup on Tuesday night vs Baylor.

After a dominant performance against Indiana University (Pa) UConn Huskies head coach reflected on all that has been going on around him.

He saw 4/5 of his freshmen play inspired, exciting basketball.  He saw Maya Moore go 7-7 from the floor, and Kelly Faris almost put up a triple double.

So for the first time since he's come back from the US Senior National team, Geno Auriemma is "starting to get excited".

The freshmen, Stefanie Dolson, Bria Hartley, Samarie Walker, Lauren Engeln and Michala Johnson were phenomenal as a group tonight  Aggressively taking it right at the basket, they were fun to watch.  Geno talked about their aggressiveness on offense, but the fact there is everything else to learn too.

Finally, in the "other": big news of the day, across the country high school star players signed Letters of intent on where they would go to college and continue their basketball careers.  Connecticut had a big day  Brianna Banks, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis and Kiah Stokes have signed NLI’s and will join the program for the 2011-12 season.  Geno discussed the threesome.
