I have heard, but not officially - not from the league people - but I have heard that there are still groups in the San Francisco/Bay Area that want a team. Obviously, as of today, it hasn't been finalized, but I think there's a lot of interest in that area.

- Former Sacramento Monarchs coach John Whisenant during hsi media conference call about his new position as coach and GM of the New York Liberty. He last spoke to the league about the matter this past spring as he explored his coaching options. There has been talk of the Bay Area getting a WNBA team ever since the Monarchs folded. Obviously, new Warriors owner Joe Lacob and his previous involvement with women's basketball seems like reason for hope. But with all that he's already done for the Warriors - and all the work it will take to save that team from almost two decades of misery - I will understand if he doesn't rush to jump on the WNBA bandwagon. That said, I'm looking forward to getting the answer to this question: Could the W Fail in San Francisco?
