UCONN BLOWOUTS

Are UCONN blowouts good for the game?  One could make an argument that they are not, as John Holts from WFSB Sports in Hartford has eluded to most recently as last Sunday night.  I however feel differently.  Although I get bored at times watching the night in & night out blowouts, I am a die-hard fan almost twenty years now.  The UCONN women have thoroughly dismantled every single Top 10 team they have faced this year.  All of those wins by at least 10 points or more.  The only team that looked as though they were going to give us fits, was Stanford.  I think we have to look at this a little closer.  UCONN is extremely talented.  There is no arguing that point.  It's the other teams that have to change their inner psyche.  I mean, after all would you like looking at UCONN film prior to your game against them?  Wouldn't that alone just get into your head?  And then it is game time.  Here comes the opposing team with the deer in the headlights look in their eyes.  No!  Stop!  Wait!  This isn't UCONN and then everybody else!  No!  It is not!  The conversation, the mentality, the teachable moments have to be this; Any team in the country on any given night can be as good as UCONN.  For the first time in a very long time, there is true parity in NCAA D-1 WBB.  It is a sight to see.  Other teams want to be as good as UCONN.  Other teams are proving that they are getting to be as good as UCONN.  If I may digress for a moment. Do you think Pat Summitt is sitting in her office in Knoxville saying, "Dammit, I wish I still had our contract with UCONN!" I think she is.  But look at it this way, at least we have Brittney Griner & Baylor to look forward to in 2010 & 2011.  Now that is gonna be GOOD!
