Mercury offer $1 tickets to playoff game(s)

This idea is brilliant on so many levels...

  • Fills the arena for a better playoff atmopshere
  • Generates revenue from concessions and parking
  • Exposes potential new fans to the team in a playoff environment
  • Benefits a local charity

Good job, Mercury! Well done.

$1 TICKETS MADE AVAILABLE TO CELEBRATE TOP SEED

IN WESTERN CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS

Phoenix Mercury offers $1 upper-level tickets for Saturday and Monday matchups

PHOENIXThe Mercury will celebrate being the No. 1 seed in the WNBA Playoffs by offering $1 upper-level tickets for the team’s Western Conference Semifinals games on Saturday, Sept. 19 and Monday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. against the San Antonio Silver Stars.

The tickets are available for purchase at the US Airways Center box office beginning Friday, Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 19 beginning at noon. Fans can also secure tickets online at phoenixmercury.com by entering the password NUMBER1. A convenience charge will be assessed for online purchases. Additionally, anyone attending Saturday’s game will receive a one-year LifeLock membership valued at $110. Registration will be available beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the US Airways Center Casino Arizona Pavilion.

The Mercury fell to the Silver Stars 91-92 Thursday night in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals in San Antonio. The previous two Western Conference champions will face off on Saturday and Monday, Sept. 21, if necessary at US Airways Center. The two matchups will air live on NBATV and ESPN2, respectively. Lower-level single game tickets are still available starting at $11.75.

It should be a good idea.

…unless any season-ticket holder is holding upper level seats for the season. Then they might be upset. That’s probably not likely, though.

My worry is that if you do too many of these promotions, the attitude becomes, “I’ll just wait for the next (near) freebee to attend a game”.

They don't

sell season tickets in the upper deck. In fact they rarely open it during the regular season. It has been open on a few weekend game but there’s barely any people up there.

I agree that they can’t do this too often but I love the idea at this time
